Veteran actor Scott Glenn is taking his first steps into prime-time series TV, signing on to NBC's pilot "Homeland Security."

Elsewhere, Mario Van Peebles ("Ali" ) has joined the cast of ABC's pilot "The Street Lawyer," while Jeffrey Nordling ("Once and Again") has taken the lead role in "The Flannerys," also at ABC.

Glenn will play a CIA agent on the verge of retirement in "Homeland Security," a fictionalized look at the fight against domestic terrorism. After the Sept. 11 attacks, he puts off leaving his job to work at the new Office of Homeland Security.

Glenn has played law-enforcement types numerous times. His credits include "Silence of the Lambs," "Training Day" and "Courage Under Fire." He's appeared in several TV movies, but his only series credit was his first job, on the soap opera "Edge of Night" in 1969.

"The Street Lawyer" is based on John Grisham's book of the same name, about a young attorney who gives up his fast-track corporate job to work at a legal aid clinic. Van Peebles will play the head of the clinic.

In "The Flannerys," Nordling will play a father who loses his law-firm job as a result of alcohol abuse. He's forced to open a storefront practice to support his family.
